Solsona Leather was founded in 1932 and since then, we have become a well-known and emblematic leather clothing store in Barcelona. There are more than 90 years of experience in the sector in which we have dedicated ourselves to leather goods as the main tradition.

Our history dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, when Emilio Solsona i Capell from Lleida arrived in Barcelona. He did it with very little money, but with the charisma and enthusiasm of someone who masters a craft: leather was his greatest passion.

So, he opened a small shop in Plaza del Pi, a few meters from La Rambla. He began by selling the garments wholesale and retail, and focused particularly on the domestic market. Emilio Solsona was a good craftsman, but also an outstanding salesman. He skillfully exploited his knowledge, advertising his products on the street and becoming one of the forerunners of advertising of his time.

Thanks to his track record, backed by his success also in foreign markets, Solsona decided to open his mythical business on Rambla de Catalunya. It was 1932 and 90 years later, our store is still in business. A second and even a third generation of leather goods has passed through the boutique. Currently, the workshop is directed by Alfonso de Aracil Solsona. All of them are united by the vocation for a trade that continues to be prominently artisanal and by a non-negotiable commitment: all the guides that Solsona has worked with throughout its history are original.

We use traditional and modern fur production techniques, in addition, We ensure that each garment is ethically and sustainably made, working closely with our local suppliers to ensure that raw materials are responsibly sourced.

The tailor-made garment service is one of the most outstanding aspects of our business, since we listen to your requirements and based on them, we take care of creating garments that adapt perfectly to your body. Our dedicated staff works with you to select the perfect skin, style and design to best suit your needs.

Leather is processed from the time it is harvested to the time the garment is sewn. The skins arrive at the Riba Guixà warehouse in 'wet blue', in optimum condition to start working on them.

They are first classified because, although all lambs are the same, their skin has different characteristics. Depending on the characteristics of the skins, it is decided what type of product they will be useful for and what quality can be offered.

then collected, washed and prepared for dyeing. They are dyed inside vats that mix colors and carry out a series of chemical processes. Once this is done, they have to dry. Later, they enter machines that dust, stretch, polish and soften the leather. Obviously, this is not a uniform procedure, since we previously agree with each client on the product they want us to manufacture and what quality and finishes they require.

Then comes one of the key steps: pigmentation. All the leathers are treated in the four pigmentation booths of the tannery. The previous dyeing is only a background, but this machine makes it possible to perfect the color, which has previously been mixed by the laboratory employees. The mixture is fired through guns that cover the entire surface of the leather, which is then dried through hot panels. The hides are dyed and dried three times to the desired shine, finish and oiliness.

Finally, the skin can be given an even greater shine or stretched to make it more open. Once this is done, it is smoothed, the damages are reviewed, it is calculated and packaged. And everything is ready for Solsona Leather to make your clothes and accessories. We will wait for you!
